Thunder Stones was created in Oatlands in 1988 to fulfil the need for products to match those of yesteryear as many old homesteads and heritage buildings in Tasmania are made of Sandstone, the original owner of Thunder Stones Eihab, was very passionate about this and created some wonderful products.
Danny and Melinda Shields purchased the business in 2015 when Eihab retired and moved it to Launceston, then added Gumnut Landscape products to the range, they have had a love of both products from Danny’s 13 years as a Paving contractor.
In 2019, Danny and Melinda sold the business to Troy Brinsmead who moved it to St Helens. Troy’s 30 years experience of laying bricks and blocks, including 4 years of producing them through his own business East Coast Blocks and Pavers, has led him to ensure the continuation of providing these unique products to customers statewide.
Thunder Stones products are created using a blend of sands, cement and colour which are dry pressed. Various additives enhance the strength and reduce water absorption.
